Colin Halliday

1964: Born Carlisle
1987-88: Foundation Course in Fine Art, Carlisle
1989-92: BA (Honours) Fine Art, Exeter

I paint Landscapes because that is what I most relate to, my working method is very bold and expressive as I want a painting to look like a painting and not get bogged down with detail.

A painterly application is a very important aspect of my work as this I feel reflects the subject matter best and the importance of individual marks, application is not hidden and this I feel celebrates the individual. I choose many subjects which could be anywhere in England sometimes intimate spaces and sometimes a larger landscape view. It is by concentrating on expressive application the painting becomes more object like and not so determined by illusion this is after all a painting and not the actual landscape, hopefully it is an object of beauty.

Mel Hood

Mel Hood is an English artist based in Bollington, Cheshire, England. Born in the South and raised in the North.

Through his life, experiences, and travels art has been a constant companion following him on his journeys, whether that’s Cumbria to Colorado or Hong Kong to High Peak.

His pieces are influenced by his connection to the landscape whether that’s the open spaces of the deep mountain valleys or the fast-paced metropolitan cities, his environment has always been at the core of his artwork.

Instinctively he is drawn to the natural image of his surroundings and questions its composition through different mediums, colours, and texture whilst always exploring light and movement. He primarily gravitates to painting and mixed media where these mediums allow him to experiment with all forms of expression and establish a narrative and a new perspective.

Nigel Smith

Nigel was born in Kent, UK , lived in London, Leicester and Auckland, New Zealand. Painting from his early teens Nigel went on to study Art and then Graphic Design an industry he then went on to work in as a designer for 25 years.

“My work sits somewhere between abstracted landscape, fantasy and lyrical abstraction. I call them dreamscapes. They are meditations on nature, spirit and memory capturing moments of mood in an ever changing environment. They are contemporary visions of the sublime, filtered through abstract expressionism, East Asian art and philosophy, the majestic light of Turner and Monet… and a dash of 70s prog album covers.

I want the viewer to feel they are not quite sure what they are looking at. They may find familair motifs but be unsure if they are looking at something vast or microscopic, external or internal, underwater or out in the cosmos, in a grand vista or a local weedpatch. Nature moves constantly, ever changing, interconnected, both epic and intimate. In my art, like in a Murukami novel, one never quite knows when the familiar will slip into a twilight of surreal dreams. Who doesn’t want a little magic in their lives?” Nigel Smith

Gareth Tristan Evans.

Born in Singapore, brought up in a remote Welsh Valley and now living in Macclesfield. Gareth is an emerging mixed media artist collected by an increasing number of contemporary collectors.

Influenced by childhood memory, vintage textiles and street art, whilst unconstructed by the need to conform to traditional codes, yet delivered with an unwavering attention to detail.

He has been painting for more than 25 years and has clung to abstraction, which acts as a guide throughout his work. Joan’s abstract work seeks to explore the limits of painting, both in shapes and colours. His paintings allude to the hippie movements of the 1960s, the artist seeks to find and invent images that are not yet known, or that have not been used before. Joan’s paintings have been exhibited in Spain and abroad, especially in Europe.

Jürgen’s intention is to create expressive gallery-quality works of art for your rooms that correspond to the modern zeitgeist. Zeitgeist comes straight from German - zeit meaning ‘time’ and geist meaning ‘spirit’ and the ‘spirit of the time’ is what’s going on culturally, religiously, or intellectually during a certain period.

Alfonso Sánchez

Alfonso is a Spanish expressionist painter, using colour and texture to create lyrical paintings. In his own words, his work is about connecting with the most primitive part of his brain:

“I work quickly with gestures with intuition and with the music I listen to. Uncertainty in our personal lives and in the world is what leads me to paint and to do so through a creative process also dominated by uncertainty about the result. I think the theme is always the same, trying to find some certainty in a world where there is none and freely expressing very raw sesnsations that connect with the oldest part of my being. I think that deep down i am very similar to a painter from 30 or 40,000 years ago.”

Caroline Mandrafina

Caroline Mandrafina (1963), French painter of Italian origin,
began her artistic career with fashion.
Drawing was an integral part of her first passion, so it was only natural that when she met Olivier Pfleger in 1994, he taught her painting.
Over time, her style has been characterized by large flat areas of bright colors and tracings on the canvas that are reminiscent of "mosaic" that she is particularly fond of.
Favorite themes: Seascapes, Music, Nature and abstract.
In 2005, she opened her gallery in Monflanquin (47) and the adventure began, with an audience still present today, participating in several fairs.
Permanent exhibition: gallery "Art et Regard, Pessac (33)"
Grand Prix du Salon de Manzac (24) in 2017.
